“Three perfect days in Belize”
Belize has some tours that are so outstanding that they certainly need some highlighting as most tourists try at least one of these three experiences during a trip to Belize. First up the ATM caves (Actun Tunichil Muknal) is named as the top sacrificial cave experience in the world by National Geographic Adventurer and is full on excitement from the first minute of the tour.
The Great Blue Hole is visible from space and worth the one-hour flight over the hole, atolls and numerous picture perfect islands and for divers it is one of the number one bucket list dives anywhere in the world. Snorkelling at Shark Ray Alley (it’s all in the name) will set your heart pumping as you watch these magnificent Nurse Sharks and Rays glide around you while you explore the ocean and it’s majesty.
The Back Story
In 2012 Darah Travel was launched and started out hiring external companies to provide tours and transfers to our guests. After some early setbacks and let downs from providers we decided to use our own vehicles so we could control the quality, safety and vehicle suitability for each journey. Nick’s very benevolent brother sent down a lovely leather seat, low mileage, pristine condition Montero Sport from Texas, and Darah Transfers and Tours was born, Within 3 years we had a fleet of 5 vehicles including vans, 4 x 4’s and SUV’s.
Our mantra was simple, provide vehicles in tip top condition regardless of age and offer a broad range of vehicle types to properly cater to all the needs of terrain, number of passengers and availability of vehicle choices in Belize, but always try to buy new. In the early days, vehicle choices were very limited, and today it’s not much better, but there is certainly a better supply of a few different brands, some well-known, others less well known but compared to most other countries our choices are still very limited due to our small population size and quality of fuel.
Key to our success has been maintaining vehicles regardless of cost to ensure our trips are always reliable and 900,000 miles later we are proudly accident free, and with over 3,500 journeys completed we have a 99.95% mechanical failure-free record! Road conditions are often harsh in the outback, so we were careful to choose gritty 4 x 4 vehicles to handle whatever the weather and roads can throw at us.
Today we have a modern fleet of carefully selected vehicles shown in the images with 2 vans (2023 and 2026) and 2 – 4 x 4 choices (2024 and 2026). In addition, our back up vehicles an SUV/Van (2015) and 4 x 4 (2014) are able to offer full service in the busiest of times to ensure we keep our clients on the road and having fun! All vehicles are extremely well maintained, regardless of cost.
In the last 16 years our team has been actively and continually developing new and exciting tours and at the same time we have championed the system of including stops on transfers between locations to maximize clients time and money. This has been well received by our customers who are able to pack more into a holiday while saving on tour costs at the same time.
Our drivers and guides are friendly, knowledgeable and safety conscious and will entertain you on transfers and tours. With an extensive savvy of tour and safety is not the full story of course, our carefully selected guides and drivers are entertainers, story tellers and just really nice people to spend time with so sit back, relax, have fun and we hope to see you soon!
